Dr. Denning, the Center’s medical director, follows a conservative philosophy of nonsurgical treatment. However, for more severe spinal curves, surgery is often indicated. Surgery can relieve chronic pain not manageable through conservative treatment. In addition, surgery may be recommended for curves that are cosmetically unacceptable, impede everyday movement or affect basic physiological functions, like breathing.
